How to connect to Sumtracker MCP
You can connect to Sumtracker MCP using AI apps like Claude and ChatGPT and then ask questions about your inventory, orders, and sales channels in plain language. The AI app reads your live Sumtracker data, so its answers reflect your account as it is right now.
For example, you could ask:
- "How much stock of SKU-123 do I have in each warehouse?"
- "Which products are low on stock in my main warehouse?"
- "Show me today's unfulfilled orders."
- "Are any of my sales channels showing sync errors?"
Setup takes about two minutes. You add Sumtracker as a connector in your AI app, then approve the connection in Sumtracker.
Before you start
You'll need two things:
- An AI app (for example Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, etc) with a plan that supports custom connectors.
- A Sumtracker login. The AI app works with the same access your Sumtracker user has. If you can only see certain warehouses in Sumtracker, the AI app will only see those warehouses too.
Find your Sumtracker connector URL
Most AI apps ask for a connector URL. You'll find it in Sumtracker:
- Log in to Sumtracker.
- Go to Settings > Connected AI Apps.
- Copy the URL shown on that page.
In Claude, you can usually skip this step because Sumtracker is listed in Claude's connector directory. Keep the URL handy anyway in case it doesn't show up.
Connect Claude with Sumtracker MCP
Option 1: Find Sumtracker in the connector directory
- In Claude, click your profile and go to Settings > Connectors.
- Search for Sumtracker.
- Click the Sumtracker connector and then Connect.
- You'll be taken to Sumtracker to approve the connection. See Approve the connection in Sumtracker below.
Option 2: Add Sumtracker as a custom connector
Use this if Sumtracker doesn't show up when you search.
- Copy your connector URL from Settings > Connected AI Apps in Sumtracker.
- In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors.
- Click Add, then Add custom connector.
- Enter Sumtracker as the name and paste the connector URL.
- Click Add, then Connect.
- You'll be taken to Sumtracker to approve the connection.
Connect ChatGPT with Sumtracker
In ChatGPT, Sumtracker is added as a plugin using a custom MCP server.
- In Sumtracker, go to Settings > Connected AI Apps > click Copy URL.
- In ChatGPT, click your profile, go to Settings, then click Plugins.
- Click Browse directory, then Add, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter Sumtracker as the name. Under Connection, paste the URL you copied.
- You can review the information ChatGPT shows about custom MCP servers, tick I understand, and click Create as a plugin.
- Click Connect to the Sumtracker plugin. You'll be taken to Sumtracker to approve the connection.
Connect other AI apps
Sumtracker works with any AI app that supports remote MCP connectors. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard these apps use to connect to other tools.
The steps are similar in every app:
- Find the app's connector, integration, or MCP server settings.
- Add a new remote MCP server or custom connector.
- Paste your Sumtracker connector URL and name it Sumtracker.
- Approve the connection in Sumtracker when you're redirected.
If the app asks how to sign in, choose OAuth. You don't need an API key.
Using Sumtracker in your AI app
Once you're connected, just ask about your Sumtracker data in a chat. Mentioning Sumtracker by name helps the AI pick the right tool, for example "Check Sumtracker for the stock of SKU-123."
The AI app can look up:
- Stock levels by product and warehouse, including booked, available, and incoming stock
- Low stock and reorder suggestions
- Orders and order lines
- Warehouses and sales channels
- Channel sync errors
It can also change some settings, such as Shopify location mappings and sync settings. These changes affect your live account, so the AI app will ask you to confirm before it makes them. Read the confirmation carefully before you approve.
The AI app always works within your Sumtracker user's permissions. It can't see or change anything your user can't.
Disconnecting Sumtracker

- Go to Settings > Connected AI Apps.
- Click on Disconnect next to the AI app you wish to disconnect.
