Using barcode scanners with Sumtracker
You can use any kind of barcode scanning device with Sumtracker on MacOS, Windows, iOS or Android.
Follow these steps to start scanning barcodes:
- Connect your barcode scanner to your device via Bluetooth.
- Open Sumtracker in your browser.
- Open pages where barcode is supported, and click on the Scan button.
- Start scanning barcodes to add inventory.
💡 In Sumtracker, you can use barcode scanning in Purchase Orders, Stock Adjustments, Stock Transfers and more. Look for the “Scan” button in the page.
Using Socket scanner with Sumtracker
đź’ˇ For iOS devices (iPhone or iPads), you will specifically need the Socket scanners. iOS does not allow input through a normal bluetooth barcode scanner. Socket scanners have done an iOS specific integration.
Socket Mobile scanners work with Sumtracker on all devices.
You can connect Socket scanners in two modes:
- App mode
- Keyboard scanning mode

Using Socket scanner on iOS (iPhone or iPad)
Socket mobile recommends using the Rumba Mobile Browser which is normal browser with built in capabilities to detect Socket scanners.
Step 1 - Set your Socket scanner to App mode.
Step 2 - Use the Socket Mobile Companion app to connect your scanner to your device.
Step 3 - Open Sumtracker through the Rumba Mobile browser and enable the Scan button in the relevant page.
You can then start scanning the barcodes to detect products and inventory.
Using Socket scanner on a MacOS
Currently, Socket scanners connect to Apple Mac devices only in Basic Keyboard Mode (HID). To pair your reader in this mode, please follow the instructions below.
Step 1 - (Skip if you haven’t paired the scanner with your device before) In Bluetooth settings, remove any existing scanner connections.
Step 2 - Reset the scanner by scanning the Factory Reset barcode below:

Step 3 - Switch to Basic Keyboard Mode by scanning the barcode below.

Step 4 - Pair the scanner with your Mac from Bluetooth settings.

Using Socket scanner on Android or Windows
To connect your Socket scanner:
Step 1 - Install and open the Socket Mobile Companion app.
Step 2 - Pair your scanner through the app.
Step 3 - Open Sumtracker and navigate to a page with the Scan button.
Step 4 - You can start scanning barcodes with the Socket scanner.
The scanner can operate in either App Mode or Keyboard Scanning Mode:
- In App Mode, you’ll see “Socket scanner connected” in the Scan dropdown.
- In Keyboard Mode, turn on keyboard scanning mode after clicking the Scan button.
